The Infinite Game
Why is life not seen as a game?
Why is it taken so seriously?
When you go to the cinema, the more you lose yourself in the movie, the better
On a deep, almost unconscious level, you know it's an artificial world
Otherwise you would run when the train is hurtling
But…
You want to feel that it's almost real
Then the drama serves its purpose
Same with life
Self veiling — ‘when players intentionally forget the voluntary nature of a game. If they do not do this, competitive effort will desert them’
Self-veiling is a contradictory act - a free suspension of freedom
If you do not see this in life, it has happened to you
You are unaware of the true nature of yourself and of life
You know only the pitch, the rules, the players, the prizes, the audience
When you see beyond, and can step beyond, the parameters of the game, you see truth
When I was feeling confused and lost in the world, I needed hope, autonomy, and understanding. These daily snippets are for that young human struggling in the challenging game of life.
They should take you 30 seconds to read!
