The structure of consciousness
If you close your eyes and imagine a pink elephant, you most likely see it as a visual in your mind
Before it appeared, there was either a different thought, or no thought
What do these thoughts or images appear in?
Consciousness
Awareness
Two words to describe the screen against which we have a thought or an image
The movie plays out on the screen. It can't exist without it
The experience of a thought or image cannot exist without consciousness
Who sees the pink elephant?
Of course, it's none other than you
But is it the 'You' that is a thought?
If it is, who (or what) is aware of the idea of 'You'
What we're arriving at is the 3 fold structure of consciousness
The known — pink elephant
The knower — you as the seer of the pink elephant (in your mind)
Knowingness — the magic sauce that enables you to be aware of anything
This structure is conceptual
Experience itself is one holistic flow
Hence, consciousness has a 3 in 1 structure
It is both unified and diversified
You are both
