- All thoughts are interpretations
All thoughts are interpretations
All thoughts are interpretations
If they are accurate, truthful and serve us, all is well
If they do not, we can try on alternatives
This is the act of Reframing
Reframing requires openness and creativity
At the start, it might feel clunky and unnatural
But practice enables it to be spontaneous
The Technique
"If it ain't broke, why fix it?"
If life is roses and unicorns then read no further
If you feel stressed, worried, blocked, confused, unhappy...
Reframing is here to the rescue
Step 1
Write down the details of the situation that's stressing you out/getting you down
Brain dump it. No filters. Only you will read it
Step 2
Pick out the most charged sentence or statement
Step 3
Check its validity:
Is it a fact? (Would everyone agree if 20 people read it?)
Step 4
What do you make it mean? What conclusions are you making from the statement? Are those conclusions valid?
Step 5
How does the thought make you feel? (This is to verify that yes, it doesn't serve you)
Step 6
Try on alternatives
This last step is the Reframe. Take the original interpretation and redo it, so that it's true or truer, and less stressful
Tomorrow I'll illustrate with an example
When I was feeling confused and lost in the world, I needed hope, autonomy, and understanding. These daily snippets are for that young human struggling in the challenging game of life.
They should take you 30 seconds to read!
