Truth Detective

There’s a book “Happy for no reason”

But what if it's the opposite?

You feel down for no reason

Or angry

Or lonely

Instead of distracting yourself, or acting out, go into Sherlock mode and look in the mirror

Not the real physical mirror

Look at your thinking

It's unlikely you're feeling bad for no reason

The culprit is those sneaky stories running through your head

You're so used to them, they go unnoticed

But they're ruling you

Grab a pen or keyboard and stop them in their tracks

They may slip away, like a shadow

But they'll be back and you have to act straight away

Get them down!

The uncaused bad feelings are your rumble strips

Warning!

Hidden stories surfacing

Jot them down:

"There's no point"

"It's not fair"

"I can't win"

"I can't decide"

"I'll never get good at…"

"I have too much to do"

"No one notices me"

As soon as you have a minute or two, put the story under the spotlight of your attention:

  • Is it true?

  • Are you sure? What's the proof?

  • Is there a truer story that serves me better?

Drop by drop
