The world is as you are

I was a monk once

For 10 years

One summer evening, I was walking along a mountain ridge from the meditation hall to the dining room

The man in front commented that the city in the distance was shrouded in air pollution

Yet I had seen a sublime twilight mist hanging in the valley

Same sight, different perceptions

Our worlds are personal

The mind interprets reality so that we can plan and communicate

That interpretation, the story that the mind tells us, is malleable

This is good news

If you experience limitation, frustration and stress, consider reframing your stories

Not denying or avoiding, nor accepting as absolute truth

Shine a light!

Write your stories down and enquire:

  • Are they true?

  • How do I know (without doubt)?

  • What do I make them mean?

  • How do they make me feel?

  • How would I be without that story that doesn't serve me?

  • Can I reframe that story?

Tomorrow we will run through an example

Have a wonderful day

When I was feeling confused and lost in the world, I needed hope, autonomy and understanding. These daily emails are for that young human struggling in the challenging game of life

They should take you less than 30 seconds to read
